Frustration set in as sales decrease...


Existing home sales fell nearly 27% in July, which was far more than anticipated. The National Board of Realtors believe it could be September before we see significant rebounds. However, at Century 21 Service there seems to be more activity this month then we saw in July. Hopefully, this trend continues into the fall. I'll post local absorption rates later this week.

HGTV announces 2011 Dream Home!


The HGTV 2011 Dream Home will be in Spruce Peak, VT. It will be located in Stowe Mountain Resort nestled in between "pictureesque ski slopes" and "emerald-green rolling hills".

Pending Home Sales rise 5.3% in March


No doubt due to the thousands of people trying to take advantage of the last minute tax credits, pending home sales rose sharply in March and was the best month of growth since last year (October). There seems to be more optimism as foreclosures are also down in most metro areas.

Does a new study shed light on the real issue behind the mortgage crisis?


There are plenty of things to learn from mortgage crisis that we are now, hopefully, coming out of. However, was the crisis the fault of the recession or was it a fire sale created by panic among the banking community? Home Equity on the Rise. . .

There are still points of concern in the housing market, but here is a nice article from the Washington Post that shows home equity is now back on the rise. This is an encouraging thing for not only home owners, but also those that are thinking of selling or buying in 2010. This is just more proof that we have probably seen the bottom of the market.
